About All Brains Belong

Volunteer Opportunities

We have tons of flexible ways to get involved. Check out the below “buckets” or email Sara at

Small Projects & Mini-Tasks

Low on time, bandwidth, or spoons but still want to help out? Good news: We always have small projects & quick, low-pressure 5-10 minute tasks that allow you to volunteer from wherever you are, whenever you have time.

Big Projects & Committees

Meet new people and connect with fellow community members over a shared purpose and vision. Committee members can be local or anywhere. Most collaboration is virtual.

Donating Your Professional Time, Skills & Advice

Whatever your skills, there’s a good chance we need it. Even an hour of your time can make a huge difference to us as a startup nonprofit. Thanks for considering pro bono work to help build a neuroinclusive community.

Meet Our Volunteer Coordinator

Sara Wilkins is ABB’s Volunteer Coordinator and Facilitator of the Kid Connections program.  Sara has been working with children and families in various capacities for the past 25 years.  She has directed summer day camps, run after school programs, taught at several childcare centers, and both taught at and held a leadership position in a Montessori school.  Sara serves in the role of Lead Advocator for the state of Vermont on behalf of the non-profit Lives in the Balance.  She has her MA from the University of Vermont in English and Psychology and her Master’s in Business from Champlain College.  She has both started and run a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and intimately understands and believes in the power of a small, dedicated group of volunteers.  Sara is the mother of two energetic and fun kiddos, ages 7 and 10.  In her free time, Sara can be found hiking, mountain biking, camping, playing her violin, or writing.

There’s no “right” way to volunteer. No defaults. No “other.”

  • We want to know what gives our volunteers energy (and dopamine!), so that every volunteer’s work is targeted to their strengths and interests. What do you genuinely enjoy doing?
  • We want to engage you on your own terms. Whether you are looking for 1:1 interactions between you and our leadership or small group work, whether you have a lot of time to give or very little, whether you communicate by speaking or by AAC, etc., we will create a space for you to connect and belong.
  • When we say All Brains Belong, we acknowledge that efforts to create community have historically excluded many bodies and brains. We deeply value individuals with lived experience of marginalization, and appreciate that those with multiple, intersecting, marginalized identities have vital perspectives to share. We strive to engage and include multiply-marginalized community members at all levels of organizational involvement.

Volunteers get paid in dopamine.
